I have had boats up to 41' that we fished offshore and I don't think this Whaler could hold a candle to the comfort and the fishing setup my Viking had, it had room to sleep 6 with a galley, and I sure didn't pay $450,000 for it. All of the fancy electrical hatches and doors are nice, but probably not practical for ocean fishing. All that being said, I still think it is an amazing boat! Tom 1979 Sport 15'

Member Posts: 77 Comments: 1 Joined: 05/28/08	Why is every other boat in its class 3-4,000 lbs lighter? 900 HP and it's borderline underpowered. Lets see some true performance numbers on that rig. I'll bet top end is mid, maybe upper 40's & 100 GPH. With 900 HP, the competition is cruising at 50 MPH & 40-50 GPH. But if your dropping almost a half Mil on a rig, you may not be concerned about fuel consumption. But I'll bet you would want to climb out of the mid 30's for cruise speed and top out at more than mid 40's. That boat needs either 350 SCI's or quad 300's.

One may not be concerned with the fuel consumption as far as cost of fuel goes, but fuel capacity plays a major role in areas like here where we have to go out 30 to 40 miles to get to the Gulf Stream Tom 1979 Sport 15'
