Hey guys, has anyone put downriggers on their 13' classic?
I have the ones I used to use on my kayak, that are "clamp" on, but it doesn't open wide enough to clamp over the side with the rubrail. There really isn't a place to mount one either. Any ideas?
The clamp is wide enough to fit over the transom, but I am worried that is too close to the engine; it's like one ft. away.
Thanks for input...

As long as your outriggers are spread apart when you're trolling, you shouldn't have an issue with them being so close to your motor.
Speaking of motor, how's your boat running now that you've raised your motor?

runs like a champ! the other day at the lake it was acting up though because a bolt on the starter bracket came loose therefor the starter wasn't engaging my flywheel...was making nasty metal on metal sound ...had to take it back to dock and tigthen that bolt up then we were good! What do you mean "spread out" the downriggers???? The only thing I can really do right now with the downriggers I have is mount them on the back of the transom as appoosed to off the side like i'd like. I'm just nervous one time my prop will snag that metal cable and really mess my day up...

Sorry, I got confused with OUTriggers. Your downriggers shouldn't be a problem as long as you're going slow and making BIG turns.

My idea is a 2x6 across to both side rails . Attached with U bolts . There would be the matter of stepping over but it worked for me. In the middle I had fastened a utility bucket and double drink holder. The drink holders I used to hold the downrigger balls. A turned up piece of 2x6 would give you something to clamp to. BG

Nice center console - How did you attach it? I'm thinking of adding a center console in my 67.

it is a Carolina Skiff brand center console, and I attached it to the floor with the holes it came with...I made sure each hole was coated with 5200 and just screwed it in, then ran a bead of 5200 all around the outside of it...As of now...holds great!
