Go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone (trailer section) and get the two wire flat style connector for $1.75 (like a 4-wire flat trailer connector) and splice on. Your problems will be over, permanently.

See if you can find one where one hole is offset from the other. Makes attaching it easier. The OEM Perko pole comes with this type included.

The one I just purchased from West has two different size prongs so you can't plug it in backwards, rubber all the way around and seals tight? I have them on the stern light and plan to use then on the VHF radio and the bilge pumps to make them easier to plug/unplug when necessary.

What I meant to describe is a connector with an end like the photo attached. When I ordered the OEM Perko pole from Sue @Twin Cities for my Montauk, I recall it came with one connector attached to the pole wiring and the other end with tails. Does this help? Member Personal Page Posts: 4280 Comments: 7 Joined: 09/30/05	Yes, that is a flat connector like Larry describes. I have never seen an OE Whaler stern light supplied with such a connector. Cole-Hersee, a long time Whaler OEM makes those. They also make the original style round black plastic/brass pin connectors that do not work well. The key with any connector chosen it that it be no more than 3/4" wide so it can fit through the stern light mounting brackets on the transom. This allows the light pole to be removed and stowed. The two-pin flat connector will, I believe, as it is only 5/8" across.

Besides stern lights, I use them for other purposes as well, as I have found that once installed, they are great timesavers in replacing any electrical item that tends to wear out or needs occassional removal, like bilge pumps, float switches, sonar and radio power leads. Just splice the leads on to the new item, plug in and you're re-wired. The 6" leads on these can be re-used and cut back many times before the wire is used up. They are also made in three wire versions, available in the West Marine catalog. They also work nicely for the start-in-neutral-protecton switches on engine control wiring. I use the three wire verion so I can un-plug the console international style navigation light pole when needed. The international style of lighting doesn't work when the Mills canvas is being used at night, so the light has to be unplugged.
