Newport 17/18. Anyone have a source for the original front seats or replaced the original front seats with some other type of seat that works well.

Halls can make the covers if you have the original wood interior pieces. If you don't contact Mike at Nautical Lumber as he my originals to make templates from.

Gents--

If you prefer, you could upgrade the whole seat system by following the path I took.

Found the Todd model 200 seats at Boat/US on their website. They are injection molded in white and come with little seat cushions in all white vinyl that is close to the Whaler pattern but not in color or trim beading.

They fit well and are way stronger and much more weather-proof than the OEM seats.

Take a look at the finished vessel below.

Looks nice. I the interest in making use of the limited space i was looking at a bench seat setup that would bolt right in. Would that take too much away from the originality. I have seen a 42 or 48 inch bench which would fit nicely in that space. It even has a notch that would line up with the rail that comes down to the seats.

I removed my seat backs and installed Montauk Rod Holders and cushions. I like this set up much better from a looks and function stand point.
