I wanted to ask this a couple months ago but just didn't. Don't know why. Shy I guess.

I was cruising around by myself in Case Inlet last September when I ran across two nice Whalers moored to the private dock on Heron Island. Looked a 15 and an 18, late models. I idled around gawking at them for awhile hoping someone would come down to the beach and ask me what the hell I was after. I wanted to ask who owns the Whalers.

Anyone here know whose they are?

Hello,

A friend of mine owns a place on Heron Island. He has an newer 18' Dauntless, chances are, one of them was his.

I looked at some property on Herron Island. I was admiring the Dauntless on the dock. If I recall correctly, the realtor said it was her husband's.

I'll be back out there for a couple of months starting in early August. I swing by Herron Island quite a bit. I'll keep checking and one day I'll catch him and say how-do.

If any of you folks are ever boating in the area, cruise into Dutcher's Cove and see me. My 15 CC will be anchored somewhere in the cove. (There's a 17' on a buoy there too.) Our place is where you see two of the last remaining original cedar cabins sitting right down on the beach. Most of the others have been torn down and replaced with "homes", complete with lawn ornaments and weedwhackers! Shock

Watch for shallow water at mid-tide and no water at low tide. If I see a Whaler idling by I promise to wave you in.

The familay of a person I work with has a place on Heron Island. It looks like a pretty nice little community.

My sister owned a place there for about 10 years. In many ways it is a nice community. In other ways it can get strenuous. It's pretty crowded and you can "bump up against your neighbors" at times. She finally got discouraged and looked elsewhere for her peace and quiet.Wink

I can certainly understand that.

My in-laws owned a house on the south shore of Hood Canal. A very nice area, but neighbors can be too close.

Northwest Whaler Rendevous is a great idea. Everett, WA would be a great port.

Two and a half years ago I started this thread. Read post #6 if you'd like to visit a fellow Whaler-head. I'll be out at the cabin from late May through June. Open invite to stop by for a beer or whatever.

I sure wish I could "subscribe" to threads here, so I could watch them. But maybe next summer a get together could become a reality?
I would be interested anyway.

I have a place on Herron Island in the South sound, we are on the NE corner of the island just up from the ferry landing. We just got a 1989 Outrage 20 that we will keep over there most of the time. Whalers are awesome boats and if we see you out in the water, well putt on over and say hi!
