my 1976 sport wiring for lights has been cut at the grommet and no wires are sticking out, can new wires be "fished" thru that same hole?

On my '76 sport 15 the wires run down the port side behind the rub rail, I had to remove the rub rail and run new wires, the rub rail stretches back into the plastic channel, the previous owner used "Lamp Cord" and shot 5 sheet rock screw's dead through the middle of both wires, right through the rub rail making 5 "Perfect" shorts.
