After a fishing dry streak that started in mid-July, I finally caught a few fish. I landed this monster yesterday afternoon in Lake Lavon, North Texas using 6lb test. I'm amazed that I was able to reel this thing in and get it aboard the Whaler. LOL

Nice fish Cliff!

Last weekend we finally were able to get the stink off the Guardian. While this was the third year of fishing on the boat we never had a day of more than 2 fish if any. We trolled for 6 hours last Saturday and I reeled this clean 6lbs Steelhead in as we were pulling the lines. Not huge but good eating and helped to put a bright spot on the day.

While Saturday we were the only ones with a single fish, and a small one at that, at the cleaning station Sunday was a different story. Very few people caught anything and we had the best day of fishing yet on the boat. 6 Kings in 4 hours. 1 6lbs, 3 10-12lbs, and 2 14lbs. I know that seems small for you west coast guys but here in the Great Lakes this is our average these days.

Cliff,

We really need to get you down to the coast to try your 13' in the bays around Rockport. It is not healthy for your kids to see you catching fish like that....let us know when you can make the trip.

I have an extra fighting chair left over from my sportfish boat if you'd like to mount it in your boat in case you hook up with another one like that! Smile

With a fish that size you should keep a shotgun on board to help subdue it. Grin

Hey guys! Yep, that thing wore me slap out! I was a little worried there when it made a few runs out, thought I might not have had enough fishing line on the pole. Grin

Duf, We got about 1/2 inch of rain on Saturday from Ike and a little wind. I was able to go out fishing (minnowing) on Sunday afterall. How did you fair?

TexasOutrage, you're right....I need to show my kids what a real fish is....lol.

Cliff - You are a man in need of a trip to the coast. At least if that were a redfish it would have been a little fight. Still fun to catch no matter what the size.

Rob, you're right....I do need to make a trip down to the Texas coast sometime! My kids know what it's like to pull in a small White Bass but not a bigger fish with more fight to it. I can see my sons face now when he has to pull in a "Real" fish. LOL. I think he would freak out!

CLiff , I noticed just North of you is Lake Texoma, which has Stripers in it . Saltwater fish without the salt , you may want to give them a try. BG
