I just purchased a Airmar P66 style transducer for a Furuno FCV-667 on my 1998 Outrage 23. The mount is different than the old one, so I have a couple of questions. The new transducer is supposed to be mounted with a spacer that is positioned to match the transom angle. How do I find out what my trnasom angle is? I will need to fill the holes left by the old mount as well as seal the new screws. What is the best product to use. Thanks
If possible, mount a small piece of starboard over the original holes after filling them with sealant. Then mount your new transducer on the starboard. You should be able to get a straight edge, hold it against the transom and match the angle of the tranducer with it.
I agree with ioptfm on the starboard marine lumber wedge. I have a great little tool I picked up some years ago at HomeDepo. It is an angle finder -- you simply place it on your transom and it will tell you the angle. Assuming you have the bottom level on the trailer. Take your starboard wedge and cut the angle on your table saw of miter saw. The nice thing about starboard is you can shape it like wood to match the base of your transducer. Also lasts forever!
For filling the old screw holes I would use 3M 5200. You can get it into the holes easily and it should be permanent. My transducer has a swivel bracket so transom angle is not an issue. Do you mean the curvature of the transom?

I did not think of that moose.... I just thought he meant the transducer was a fixed style base. This is a perfect example of why this forum works so well. As individuals we are all average but put a bunch of us together and we can be quite dangerous.
