Anyone interested in doing a Texas offshore fishing trip out of Port Aransas? We could have a flotilla of Whalers out on the Gulf for a great day of fishing and fun.

How far out into the gulf are you talking about? I have a little 13'......can't go too far. LOL.

John, i'd be up for it. I'm working on it now, and probably will be through at least Sat installing my new 27C GPS/Fish finder, new antenna, swim platform, some teak and a set of 4 switches. Next weekend i'm open if the weathers cool.

Sounds like it could be fun! I would take the Montauk out if there are other boats around and the weather is acceptable. Other wise DUF I make a great deck hand  . I will be coming down on Sat and going home Tuesday. We ought to try to get together one night. I will have the boat with me and also need to visit a friend in Corpus. I could probably make a full day in your area.

Good....sounds like a few are interested.
Cliff, it all depends on the weather. If too rough for the 13', there will be room on other boats. The closest rigs are about 6 miles from the end of the Port Aransas jetties. I saw a bay boat with a single engine 26 miles out a few weeks ago. Rob, the 17' should be OK. Let's try to pick the best date for everyone.

Duf - I am coming in tomorrow morning and leaving on Tuesday. The kids start school on Wednesday so we need to be back home. I am also planning to come down over labor day weekend but I know how busy it will be down there.

Guys,
I am going to be in Dallas Aug 25 - Aug 31 visiting friends with my family. Wish there was some way to get to the gulf or at least meet up with some of you Texans .

Gotta say, outside of Dallas and Austin, the only place I have been in Texas is Port Aransas. Even though it was a shotgun blast down and back from Austin for a weekend in the off season, I loved it.
Wish I could come.

Rob, give me a call and come by for a dos X anytime, as i'm not doing anything this weekend but working on the boat. Was out there earlier today and sweating like a virgin locked in the locker room with an entire football team  . I'm cooling off catching up on some e-mails and will be out again working until close to dusk, and picking it up again tomorrow. So, give me a call 361 549 5347 and come by anytime.
Jeff, your more then welcome to come down and spend an evening and overnight here. If your arriving on the 25th, that's a monday and staying till the 31st, which is a Sunday, there is plenty of time for you to get here. Its about an 8 houir drive from Dallas, or a 1:15 minute flight. I'm home that weekend, so maybe we can do a little fishing or boating.........imagine that.
John, i've penciled in next weekend (Sat) to hook up, so let me know if that works for you.

Hey all. This is my first post here, but I thought I would mention that I am "restoring" a 13 on Padre Island. All I am really doing is getting it working so I can go fishing, not restoring it beautifully like dtmackey. Also, I work in Port A for UT. We go out to collect fish about twice a week, but I haven't been out yet as I just started. I am not sure a 13 can make it out easily, but my boat has been to 14 miles out. I might be interested in going out if anyone else is willing to let me ride along until my whaler is finished!

rbattle, i live on Padre Island as well. Come by any time for a visit (watch it though, i may put you to work  ) I'm the last house on the left on Mizzen.

I live about 35 miles northwest of Dallas in Mckinney and fish lake Lavon. If you don't mind riding in a 1966 13 footer.....you're more than welcome to come up and try your chances at catching some bass.

I would love to take you up on your offer if it was just myself on the trip. I am heading down with my Wife and my 6 month old son to visit a good friend of my wife. We are not going to have a car to our selves and doubt I could break away for 2 days. One day I promise we will get together.

I found out today we are going to be staying in Venus Texas and that looks like about 1 hour and 15 minutes from you. I may be able to snag a vehicle for an afternoon or evening to shoot over. Are you availible during the week?

No worries Jeff, when you can make it down this way i assure you, we will hook up on some relaxation and fishing!! Speaking of!
Gents, talked to John (Texas Whaler) this morning and we are going to postpone our fishing outing until next Sat, the 30th of Aug for various reasons including the weather which is a little iffy right now. I am holding one spot open for a Whaler Central guy, or gal, and John is holding open two. So if you would like to be part of the crew/fishing excursion on the 30th, let John and I know, otherwise we will fill the ranks from friends.

Well Duf I am watching this storm rolling towards the gulf. I am still coming down this weekend but do not know how the weather is going to fair. The last few days have been amazing! My Dad went out in East Matagorda today and caught a limit of trout with several in the 20+" range. He said the conditions were perfect. I have also been watching the corpus beach cams and the surf is FLAT! I should be fishing.......
I will keep watching -- are you and TX Outrage still trying to get out on Saturday?
