So I am in process of redoing the console of my 1970 nauset, and have to rewire the front and back lights. None of the original wires or holes are present, and I cannot see a way run wires to the front except for outside the hull. Tried doing a search on wiring, and got 56 pages of hits, tried to narrow it down further and got zero. So, I'm wondering what you folks with the one piece rail do for getting power to a bow light. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

T-

If you are absolutely certain that those wires aren't there (they go through a hole by the transom and come out at the bow light), then the trick is to send your wires from the light switch down the tunnel under the floor. Then you come out of the floor in the stern and over the side. Take off the rub rail and run the wire under the rub rail up to the light. If this post stays active for a bit, there are some guys here that have done a decent job of it. They can post some pics.

David, the original bow light is gone; replaced with some kind of west marine generic cleat with a battery operated red green light attached to the top of that.

The wiring may be under that, although I wonder if this is why current setup is the way it is.

As far as the rear, I understand the wire should come out somewhere on the port side near where the terminal block for the stern light connection is made.

I'm curious to see how wiring cna be placed under the rub rail though, pretty tight under that rail...

I haven't done it as my wires were still good. There are others that have though. For all I know, it may take a different rub rail, one with more space under it. I would suggest that first you pull off the bow light and look underneith.

pulled the bow light, there is a large phillips screw that is filling the hole where I think the wires would have come out, and it's stripped. Looking like an outside wire job may be in order here.

Take a pair of vice grips and try to get that scew out. Check what's under there.

The screw is below the surface at least 1/4 inch down, will be a chore getting to it. I'll check it out tomorrow, but right now the kokanee in lake berryesssa are calling!
