I'm at a loss when it comes to electrical issues, but I think there must be a simple fix for this...
I have Nav lights and Stern all around light on my old Eastport -- they work off one 2 position switch. The switch is new as are the wires and bulbs (the one thing that was in good condition when I bought the boat).
Up until a few days ago they were working fine, but now Nav lights will come on, but not the Stern. The fuse box only appears to have one 7.5 fuse and I'm assuming it's not blown as the Navs are still fine. I checked the splices and they look very clean. We just had alot of rain -- could dampness effect any of that?
Try taking the stern light connector apart and then putting it back together. Sometimes it looses continuity at the connector.
If that doesn't work, see if you get power to the stern light connector.
You could also hook the stern light up to a battery to see if the light and socket works assuming the bulb is still good.
Do you have a continuity tester? (aka: volt/ohm meter) You can test the stern light for continuity of the circuit very easliy if you have this. PM me and I'll walk you through it.
Easier than that though is what Joe suggests, which is to just disconnect the light and run 12 volts to it and see if it lights up. Any wire you have around will work. Hook one end to a battery and touch the other end to the wires on the light. (after you disconnect them from at the base of course!) Now we'll know whether we have a circuit problem or a blown bulb, Do that and get back to us.

I have a 1967 Nauset which I refurbished. The early Whalers had very thin wires molded into the hull for the bow/stern lights which tended to fail over time. As you don't have access to them on the older hulls, you need to run new ones in their place. I found the best was was to run themn from teh bow , thru the two piece rubrail that cam eon my hull. I drilled thru the side uf the gun'l at the stern and connected them to the stern light , then ran the wires to the light switch on my console. I resolved the issue and makes it easy to replace wires inteh future as needed.

I went down to the boat today with extra wire, a volt meter, fuses and a new bulb. Turns out after messing with it for a bit that the ficture has some play where you lock the bulb in. I ended up fastening a shim in there and we're back in business.
