air filter?

Member Personal Page Posts: 19 Comments: 1 Joined: 12/01/07	Hey does anyone know if a 1998 40 hp. Mercury sea pro outboard has an air filter on the carb? There seems t be an empty plastic box on the mouth of the carb. I don't recall having air filters on my other smaller motors. Thanks, Marc

Member Personal Page Posts: 2012 Comments: 0 Joined: 12/19/05	My recently acquired `99 Johnson 25 Two stroke doesn`t even have a bow in front of the carb, although there are two threaded holes in the front of the single carb. Is the plastic box missing, or as the previous owner stated, never had one. Rich
