Cliff,

Let us know what we can do to help. Ronnie's Marine is a big Yamaha dealer in the Aransas Pass/Corpus Christi area. They might have the part. We will take a look at your post with pictures.

Look at it this way, your six year old is a seasoned captain now.

Cliff, i use Ronnies marine as well for all my issues. Managers name is Mac and he is a good guy. Give him a shout and you should be up and running in no time. Ask if Whalen (spellings wrong here) who is the ETEC specialist will look at it. Normally he sticks to Evenrudes, but he does make exceptions Pfft

Well, we're getting close and everything is going smoothly.

We are still looking for some 'extras' for the Bar-B-Que at DUF's.
If you will review the post a few before this you will see who is
bring what. Let me or DUF know what you can do.

We are planning a beach outing at 'ski basin' for Sunday. I'm
bringing a portable Coleman Grill since we are intending on having
lunch there. There will be no problem with any and all using this,
just bring your burgers, dogs or chicken and use it as you may.
I'm also bring a 10' x 10' 'dining canopy' that is for everyone's
enjoyment if it can be secured well enough; Corpus Christi IS the
'windiest city in the United States'.

BTW - I have a large BW banner (black with red lettering) that will
be displayed at the launch area Saturday and whatever beach area we
can get at 'ski basin' on Sunday.

Right now we have six boats, ten adults and four children. If you
would like to join this event and haven't yet just let me or DUF know
or just show up! The more the merrier.

It is not looking good for me. I have both kids home with high fever and tested positive for strep. The wife started running a fever last night and I have been playing daddy for the whole group. I have really been looking forward to this week so I am really upset that we are probably not going to make it down.

Take lots of pictures and count me in for the next one -- maybe the new boat will be ready then also.

Sorry to hear that Rob, as both Trish and I enjoyed your familys visit. Hope things improve for them and stop by again any time your in the area.

To the rest of the Whalers coming this way, yup were ready. I'll probably head that way to arrive around 10. I checked the road to the ramp as it was closed a couple of weeks ago, and the good news is, not only is it open, but they surfaced a good part of it, and smoothed the entire road, so access is much more favorable then Bob and my first trip there.

Well, the first annual South Texas Memorial Day rendezvous is officially over and I think officially a success. We ended up with 4 boats and met at the Packery Channel boat ramp as planned, moved on to Snoopy's for lunch, and awaited the final addition of the last arriving couple. All in all, was John (aka Whaler Outrage), Bob Younger and his wife Kathy in their 63, Tim and his wife Linda in their 67, and myself and Trish. Lunch at Snoopies was outstanding as usual, and a great time for everyone as we got acquainted. After lunch we cruised to my house so I could start prepping my famous beer marinated ribs and Texas Baked Beans, and Trish jumped ship and took the group to Ski Basin while I cooked Wink (can't say as I blamed her!) After I finished the prep work and got the ribs brewing, I joined the rest of the group and we had a great time.

Much later we returned to my home for all to enjoy a variety of foods that everyone brought and we sat around the deck the remainder of the evening enjoying each others company and boating experiences. Because of the small numbers and Tim and Linda having to leave that evening for pet duties, Trish and I split everyone up to stay at our houses saving John a ride home late and Bob and Kathy the hassle of heading to a hotel.

Next morning was a repeat with a fine Texas breakfast of deer sausage, mushroom, onion and cheese omelet, with leftover Duf's baked beans. It truly stuck to your ribs!!! A little later we headed out for some fine photography work by Bob, while John and I ran our boats for pictures, and went on to capture the Ski Basin Island. Later, John headed back to Rockport and Trish, Bob, Kathy and I endured another clear day with blue sky's and another enjoyable day on the water/beach. We departed the beach after 6 PM for Dogs and Burgers and was an early night for a tired group of Whalerites.

I will definitely host an 09 Memorial Day rendezvous as I couldn't have asked for a nicer group of folks to spend anywhere's from a day to a weekend with. Depending on the amount of participants next year, Trish and I may open up the house (s) to additional guests, and campers depending on the numbers.

Bob will be placing his own article later, which will include his outstanding photography!

Hope everyone else enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend!! Grin

Whew, a fast three days but a blast. DUF got to try out his new VHF and hail Texas Outrage as he was entering Packery Channel. Tim and his wife joined us a bit later at Snoopy's. There was a lot of shop talk and just a FEW beers as we cruised over to ski basin. We bummed at the beach and later dined at DUF's.

Can't add more to DUF's post (though I'll probably come up with something) and have to edit the post.

For now I just want to get the link for the photos in place. Have fun looking at them, we had fun taking or being in them.

Looks like you all had plenty of fun. I am so sad we could not make it down -- maybe next time. We are 2 months away from the beach house being completed so I will be in the area a lot by summers end. Pictures look great!
