I have spent the better part of this morning deleting links to Yahoo photos that many of you members linked to.
I have had to remove way too many of these links to the former FREE photo hosting site which is now DEAD.
For this reason, I will no longer be linking to outside FREE hosting services.
They have too many advertisements and as you can see, may not stay around forever thus creating dead links on this site.
For those of you with PhotoBucket links, I am leaving these on for now. However, new links to PhotoBucket will no longer be added by me anywhere on WhalerCentral.com.
For those of you that want to add your photos and links to your photos, please use your Personal Page to upload your Whaler photos.
WhalerCentral photos and links will NOT go dead as we have complete control of our site.
I'm sure everyone can understand the reasoning behind this.
I'm also sure there are hundreds of dead Yahoo links that I have missed.
If anyone runs across a dead link, please let us know.
Yes, I removed a lot of the dead links and I know there are many, many more to go.
I got your note the other day and changed your link for the Outrage 17' to your Personal Page.
I also went through all of the links on the Owners List pages and removed all the Yahoo links and other dead links from who knows what services. http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...p?cat_id=7
The only links I will be putting on the Owners pages above will be the Personal Page links here at WhalerCentral.
At this time I am after all the dead Yahoo links. I will look at other links later.
I really don't want to go through this again in this lifetime.
It all comes down to server space. If this site has enough space to host all of the images posted by it's users that is great. In fact it is still rather rare to have a site that has the space and willing to host all of it's users images.
It is always preferable to have the Personal Page photos uploaded to WhalerCentral rather than having outside links.
The second best way is to have them uploaded to your account with your Internet Provider.
Most Internet providers give their customers FTP access and space for their own personal files which is included with your account.
My provider allows 10 MB of space for me to keep files or photos that I want.
With your provider space, there are NO advertisements and the site is usually up and running.
Jeff,
We have lots of space for members personal pages and photos. We allow all our members to upload 20 photos to their personal page space. They always have the option of deleting older photos and uploading new ones as long as the total is 20 or under.
All photos should be 640x480 when uploading.
I see far too many people that link to 1500x1500 size photos on FREE sites that just destroy the layout of this site. Plus with those FREE services we all get to see those wonderful ads...
Don't you just love to seeing those dancing figures and real estate ads, etc., when all you want to do is look at someone's Whaler photos?
