Bob, great responses to your interest question and still growing!

Couple of questions i'll answer here. Location of Ski Basin is its a local place on N Padre Island that a lot of people go to to ski, jet ski, tube pulling and assorted water sports. Its basically a large canal with a beach area that you can pull up on and park and pull out some chairs and socialize. The canal entrance is about 3 miles SW of the JFK bridge, and ski basin itself is about 5 mins from the intercostal. I have a picture of it as my screen saver at work, so i'll dig up the original and send it out. This area pretty much has it all. You can exit the intercostal and hit the gulf 40 mins of cruising/idling (wake zones) from my place, and even less from ski basin. There are also tons of canals to cruise through and check out the houses/boats, which includes quite a few Whalers. So CES, between the canals and intercostal your 13 will be fine, and should we go in the gulf fishing and its rough, we can double up if we need to. I have a place on one of these canals with enough waterfront that we can tie all the boats up without rafting up. We might have to get creative with our bumpers, as my bulkheads are concrete, although i have quite a bit of wood dock area as well. All the canals are no wake zones, and unless the winds are 20MPH plus, wave action at my place is a non-issue.

If you want to google it and check out the surrounding areas, my address is

Hey guys, I haven't heard much about this Texas get together lately. I am still up for it. I've recently completed some serious fiberglass work on my boat and I am really wanting to take it somewhere. I am getting a little bored with the lakes here in North Texas. Any updates?

An outing like this sounds like fun. I fish Rockport and offshore Port Aransas so count me in.

I'm ready for some warm weather and some blue salt water. Kind of tired of this cold weather and murky brown fresh water up in my parts of Texas. Also ready to catch something other than a few striped bass and catfish too. Smile

Lake Travis sounds like fun too! Never been to the lake with my whaler.
I bought my last sakonnet from a gentleman who kept her there.
Beautiful lake.

Travis is incredible .. i believe 68 miles long ...knooks n crannies ,coves, huge basins .. beautiful water and fantastic camping !(Pale Face,Pedernales close to Willy's studio) Great fishing ... ok, i like lake Travis ... It would just be nice to have a Texas round up ... i grew up in So. California and we would have them at Catalina Island.

Hey Richard .. Newport beach .. down by the wedge .. (Balboa) There must be more Whalers in Newport Harbor than anywhere else on the west coast ... there are some still on moorings that were there when i was a kid. They are everywhere ... i actually went to Eader elem. 1 - 4 grade in Huntington ... close to Edison high. Its only a Southwest flight away to Orange county ... i miss it , but not the traffic.

I am in Cost Rica, been here for two weeks, leave on Saturday and i will be on Travis Sunday ...
Great surfing and fishing down here ,... Amazing place

I think the intent of this thread was for everyone to go down to Duf's house in Corpus. Am I wrong?

The intent is for us Whaler fanatics to meet and greet. I'm shooting for Memeorial Day weekend at DUF's but need his blessings and coordination. In the meantime I'm also looking into another "meet 'n' greet" with another member perhaps in mid March. This involves some coordination prior to putting out any 'final' word so the whole thing doesn't become unenjoyable. Once final dates, etc are worked out I'd like to start a new thread for the event (and I hope we have several at various locations during the year)

Hey guys, sorry for the blanks but been real busy down here finishing up my newly remodeled kitchen and one bedroom I’ve been tiling. In between all that fun been pulling all my ETEC gear off Raggedy. Man what a mess. The wire was even worse than I thought as it is all snarled in the trough mixed in with the shifter cable, throttle cable and I can't pull anything out, it just binds up. So draining the hydraulic lines and going to try and pull them out and pray the fittings don't snag, or I’m in deep do do. Anyhow, Bob will probably call you this weekend, most likely Sunday evening and chat about the get together.

Alrighty then. Duf, I looked up your house on mapquest, you have quite the nice spread going on there. Seems like there are lots of open and natural beaches located very close to your casa.
