Working on a 1984 13' whaler. I want to put two feet of wood benching in the back to act as a small deck and remove the middle bench seat. Will not having the middle bench in effect the integrity of the boat? Do the benches act as lateral bracing? Thanks

The seats are not needed as lateral bracing. Quite of few people have taken out the front thwart. There are even some 13 foot converted to center consoles.

You can take out all the wood if you like, It won't affect the integrity of a Whaler hull at all.
