anchor, chain and rode

Member Posts: 1 Comments: 0 Joined: 10/13/23	Hello, Recently got my anchor stuck on bottom and had to cut it loose. Can somebody advise me of the correct anchor size, chain length and chain to rode connector? If I don't set it up correctly it may not work in the power windlass. The boat is a 2015 285 conquest. Member Posts: 17 Comments: 0 Joined: 04/23/23	Your windless will dictate what size rode and chain you need. The owner's manual should have the information. As for chain legnth, I always go with a minimum of the boat legnth...in your case, 28-30 of chain. You'll need to back- splice the rode to the chain for it to work with the windless. The depth of water where you do your boating will dictate rode length. Bottom type will dictate what kind of anchor. We have mostly sand/ mud, so Danforth works for us. Lots of online resources, including Boat/US. West Marine ( and others) can custom make the rode/chain/splice if you provide them with the specs.
