We haven't used our boat for a couple of years and, although I've run up the outboard every few months, it's now clear I should have excercised the steering as well !
I've removed the cable from the Honda 50 and that moves easily, so the problem is obviously the steering box or the cable itself. I suspect the cable, as there is some movement in the box but none in the cable.
Now, our boat is pretty original and not had much use, so I imagine the steering is the original. The thing is, there seems to be no way to seperate the cable from the box, it's not threaded but somehow clamped in when manufactured - the whole box seems to be hermetically sealed, with no access bolts or screws.
Can anyone suggest a way to free up the cable? I feel that if I could remove it from the box I'd have a far better chance at it, with two free ends.
