Propeller size for 1996 21 whaler outrage with 150HP mercury
Hi
i have a 1996 Boston whaler outrage 21 with Mercury Verrado 150 HP 4 strokes.
i need to get a new propeller and i don't know exactly which one to get,
the current one (that i need to replace ) is black max 13 X 16.
when i tried to use the mercury website it recommends a 15X17 propeller.
so, i am a bit confused.
i don't need performance, i want a rotor that will give me a good fuel consumption and will be comfortable.
would love to hear your advise.
thank you verry much for the answer.
the verado is 2010 i think.
there is a"prop selector" on the mercury website. you put your details in and it reccomands on a prop.
this is what i came up with:
Boat type: Bay Boat
Usage: Mid range cruise / fuel economy/0 ft
Engine Manufacturer:Mercury
Engine Type: Outboard
Engine Year: 2008
Number of Engines: One
Engine Family: Verado
Engine: 150 Verado
Drive / Gear Case: Verado 2.08 Gear Ratio
DETAILS
Calculated Pitch: 16.64
Calculated Weight with engine(s): 3,897.62 lbs
Calculated Engine RPM: 5,950
Calculated Boat Speed: 41.08 mph
and the recomindations are for :
blades D P
Black Max® 3 16 16 RH 16440A45
Black Max® 3 15 17 RH 832828A45
Mirage® Plus 3 15.5 17 RH 18278A46
Revolution 4® 4 14.6 25 15 RH 857022A46
SpitFire® 4 14 17 RH 8M0084494
Vengeance® 3 14.5 17 RH 16314A46
When you run the boat, how many people are usually on board?
How much gear/supplies? lb or kg?
Do you go in large waves or only calm?
What do your local dealers have available? Do they allow returns? You may need to test 2-3 sizes.
I would go with either Enertia or Vengence. Enertia cost more. The Enertia requires a slightly larger pitch than the Vengence. (17" in Vengence = 18" in Enertia)
As for the pitch, I would start with a 17 in the Vengence and an 18 in the Enertia.
You want to run the engine 2 holes up, top bolt in the 3rd hole down from the top.
Please report back rpm and speed at full throttle. Detail what the load was in the boat (people, fuel, gear).
