I have on order a new 2023 170 Montauk. My old 1983 Montauk finally bit the dust. With the battery now inside the center console, I will need to wire an outlet near the stern to plug in my Cannon electric downrigger (will be mounted on the side rail).

Anyone done this before? My plan is to wire a 30 amp breaker directly to the battery and run 10 gauge marine wire from there to the stern. Where to place the outlet? Looks like I should be able to pull wire through a chase from the center console to the stern and expect to be able to get it into one of under seat storage areas at the stern. There looks to be enough space to drill a 2-1/2” hole for the outlet there. Ideally, I’d like to be as close to the outside as possible since the existing cord on the downrigger is only about 3 feet long. I can always extend that, however.

Interested in any suggestions/tips on how to do this.

Appreciate the help.
