I’m having a problem with my 1993 SL 16. There is water getting under the floor and on top of the gas tank causing the main fuse in the engine to short out. The wires that are under there are to the fuel cell, although it doesn’t work. I didn’t have this problem in the past. If I take the wires up through the hole in the floor and separate them then the engine starts with no problem. Doesn’t seem to be a mystery what is causing the short but how do I fix this.
Thanks.
Try to follow the wires and find where they connect to the console and where they connect in the stern (motor or battery etc). I think there is a damaged wire.
Once you find where they terminate, add a pull string (weed trimmer line) to the end with lots of tape and pull the wires back through the other end. leaving the pull string in its place.
Inspect the wires, look for damage.
