I have a 1996 Dauntless 13'. I’d like to mount a fishing rod holder to the inside sidewall, the kind where the rods insert into a foam holder and the rods lay horizontally along the length of the boat. I can’t find the diagram which shows where there is wood inside the hull for this model. Is it necessary to get into the wood or can you just screw into the fiberglass and use marine sealant? Any help would be appreciated.
(changed to proper name of Dauntless 13' for clarification)

Fishing poles are light. Drill where most appropriate and seal well. I've been doing that since 1971 and haven't had a boat rot or sink yet.
