Have a 1993 SL16. Gas gauge not working and have determined there is no power going to the gauge from the battery-I switched it on and used a volt tester connected to earth and I terminal and it didn’t light up. I’m new to this. How do I go about troubleshooting to find out why there’s no power running from the battery to the gauge?
Once I get power to the gauge the next step is to check if the fuel sender is bust I believe.
There is one sending wire that goes from the center of sender on the tank under the nut to the gauge on the dash. Check the connection there. And then check the ground on the sender on the tank and check ground on the gauge. The gauge is a ohm gauge and there should not be a positive wire anywhere near the sender on the top of the tank. The ignition wire is your positive on the gauge and goes hot with ignition on. Hope this helps.
