I am new to boating and could use help on almost everything. My inspection report indicated that the engine batteries are 5-years old and need replacement but the house batteries are only 3-years old. I was told that I should just replace all four batteries at once. Can anyone recommend a good battery brand, This is code language to me but the Owners Manual indicates I should buy AGM style Group 27, 12 volt MC 800, RC 135 minutes. I think that means all four batteries should be the same.

I have been getting a glitch with the starboard side engine when I am in slow docking speeds that it stops steering with only the port engine steering, If I shut the engine off and back on it steers again (until it does not), I have Mercury Verados 300 with Joy Stick. I was told by the broker that the batteries could be causing a glitch but I dont think so, I will replace the batteries but they are holding at around 12 volts so that does seem to be a weak battery. Any ideas on trouble shooting this?

I am realizing I bought a bit too much boat and there seems to be a lack of boat mechanics and good assistance.

Thanks
Ricardo

I would replace the starter batteries first. Verado's are very sensitive to voltage. I thought they require 1000 CCA minimum.

I like Interstate brand but some like other brands.

Then troubleshoot the error code.

You will need a mech to read the engine codes stored to resolve it IF it does not go away with the new batteries.

Check back with us and let us know.
