1975 Newport 17' Pilot Seat

Member Posts: 7 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/17/20	Hi! I bought a 1975 Newport this summer and am trying to learn everything I can about it to get it back to as original as possible. I know that they came stock with the mahogany RPS seat but mine has an all fiberglass pilot seat that has a front seat with a removable seat panel, 2 rod holders on top, and a rear seat with a seemingly removable panel and a storage compartment in the back (the panel is either permanent or really stuck). The whole seat also hinges on the floor on the stern side to rock backwards. Does anyone know where this seat comes from? Thanks! I looked at what Todd is selling now and didn't see anything close to what you described but who cares? If you want an original RPS for a Newport start looking now. They are hard to find because they are mahogany vs teak. I see them up for sale every year or so.

Glad to know that it's original! I can send pictures of the setup tomorrow, I found another thread mentioning the same seat and I understand it's pretty rare.
