Got a 13' classic with a tiller. Previous owner fashioned some seats made out of pressure treated 1x2's and painted them white. It's time for an upgrade and was planning on getting the mahogany ones from Speciality. Question, is the clamp/riser really necessary? I've gotten spoiled with the ability to shift my seats forward/back for load and sometimes removal of the front seat to accommodate a larger cooler for those longer fishing days. Didn't know "how lose" these mahogany ones will fit. The current seats actually extend to the top rail to the sides and have a small "riser" underneath with some strips of neoprene that do fit snugly on the rails once positioned. Also, how "badly" do the mahogany ones tend to warp?

Many owners have moved the seats to the top of the riser for comfort.

While the riser is not "needed" The notch in the riser keeps the seat in place.

If you want to be able to adjust the position of the seats, I suggest adding a tall riser with predrilled holes for different positions.

The mahogany rails do not warp since they are #1 grade, no knots, straight grain.

There are plans for the 13/15 interiors here if you want to DIY. I recommend a cabinet maker who fabricates OEM and custom wood replacement parts over Specialty Marine. Not a huge price difference.

Thanks. I'll wait to they are back in stock at Specialty since I have their form pads in any event. Just need to buy a bit of SeaDeck to pad the edges like the existing seat frames. I know mahogany is heavy but has to be lighter than these pressure treated mammoths.
