Recently purchased my first boat with a 1993 montauk. Is there a way to have our dock lines pre-tied at the dock without cleats? I was thinking of ordering a set of marine clips that I would use to attach to the line then clip onto the lift hooks. My slip is on mooring whips so that is making it even harder for me I would love to just be able to clip each line. Would the clips damage the boat bad from moving around?

Why not leave the lines attached to the boat. You will need them at the next dock you stop at.

I rather have a keep a few lines on board but be ready for a quick tie up at the dock. Leaving the lines attached I imagine would be an eyesore

I have lines at my slip that stay at the dock. I also have lines on board. Coil them and do not leave a trip hazard.

I always used clips on my smaller whalers. With whips it will take the slack out the lines so the clips won't be rattling around but I never had problems without whip use(done both). I used a nice brass clip and had nails on my pilings. As I slid into my slip I grabbed the clips off the nail and "clipped" clipped" on the eyes and then had 2 lines up on the bow that were just the eye hoops which I just put around the norman pin.
