Hello Everyone,
Newbie here, sorry if im posting in the wrong spot.
I just got my first whaler and already have a question.
Can i put a railing from a 15 sport onto my 17 montauk, can i make it or will it fit? Or is it totallt incompatible,
Or do you know where i can get the proper railing for a fair price?
Thank you
Eric

A bow railing from a Montauk (1973-2002) will not fit a 15' Sport (1976-1990). The Montauk side rails may fit. One would need to verify spacing and the wood reinforcement diagram.
Proper railings at a fair price will be a matter of chance. There are not many listings for 15' rails and could be quite far away.
Remember what they say the word 'boat' means. Break Out Another Thousand.

Phil he has a Montauk 1976.
You may find them used as many do not like the rails and remove them. Shipping is nearly impossible even if you cut them in half. Specialty marine sells them which will give you an idea of what replacements cost. I personally do not like the bow rails but they do make getting on and off easier from the front. I normally exit from the side.

Thank you, I appreciate your advice.
I guess i will pass on the 15 sport railing.
It was a good deal...
I thought i may be able to modify it, but i may pass.

Finally, do you have a smirk or not? Top picture on my personal page is Smirkless, bottom picture is a larger boat than yours but that is what the smirk looks like.
If it is Smirkless I have a bow rail I might sell.

My apologies.

You have the Smirkless Bow so the later version for the Smirk hull will not fit well without modifying.
You need what MG56 has to fit properly.
