I thought I'd paint it but you really shouldn't paint treated plywood; you can risk trapping moisture which would rot it. using some type of vinyl is also a good option. I reached out because I can't stand not find original products or at least knowing what an original product is especially when it has lasted almost 40 years! Thank you again. I think I'll paint or coat with a rubberized materials.

Keep in mind that the plywood shelf was only covered on one side and the edges were not sealed. While it may have lasted in your boat 40 years, it failed in many other boats much, much sooner. Seal it with epoxy resin and cover the top with Tuff coat rubberized coating to keep stuff from sliding around. This is how I redid the floor in 3 Whaler console (a Montauk, 19 Low pro and 22 outrage when I redid them) and they all turned out great. I would not use pressure treated pine plywood. I think a classic Whaler deserve better that pressure treated wood. Star board 3/4" is a great option too but would heavy for the application. And everything will slide around on it. What came out of the original Whaler console was Marine grade 3/4 fir with vinyl glued down only on the top. Archie
