So I was installing a new rubrail on my 15' super sport restoration project and was wondering how to wrap or terminate the rails. I bought one of these:

Here is what it looks like next to the rubrail. Doesn't seem like it will fit right and it will extend over the top of the transom. What's the preferred method of wrapping the rubrail around and terminating? Thanks!

What I meant by terminating was how the 3 piece rubrail is trimmed and wrapped around the corner of the transom. Are all the pieces trimmed at an angle and left as is or is the final bumper piece left longer to wrap around the corner and then screwed down to the back side of the transom. And then is it covered by some sort of rubrail plastic or stainless piece to make it pretty?

i've tried to look for examples but have come up empty.

Normally the receiver stops at the stern and just the black insert wraps around and screws into the transom. You just notch out the black piece so it sits flush where it bends the 90 degrees. Nothing covers them on 15's to look pretty.

That was what I was assuming. When you say notch out, what exactly does that look like and mean? Do I cut out the raised grooves that seat into the base so it bends easier? Or does that mean I cut V-notches at the top and bottom of the round insert where it is supposed to bend so that I'm not fighting the rigid material?

You cut off the ridges that would fit into the receiver so it is flat and flush with the transom. You just use a box knife once you have the rubrail in place. You will probably have to do it again down the road as they stretch a bit.

I did the rub rail on my 1979 22' Revenge. I needed to miter cut the track to make the corner. The rubber insert stayed intact going around the corner. The corner miter cut is a double compound miter on the track and was a difficult cut. If attempting, save the old pieces to act as a scribe/template. Go slow. The termination on my boat has an aluminum cover/cap. I do not know the layout of your 15' Super Sport but capping the end "grain"/termination point of the rail could be done with something that fits over the piece not one that just covers the end.

Gchuba....That is a larger hull, does not pertain to under 17' classic hulls.
