Has anyone found any off-the-shelf bimini tops that fit and are tall enough for an Outrage 18? I just unpackaged the tallest one TaylorMade offers. It's not nearly as tall as advertised. Their specified "height" is actually the overall measurement of the main stanchion, which stands at nearly 45 degrees, making the vertical height of the bimini much lower than the stated "height".
Correction! I have to correct my above message. Taylor Made was not at fault, they did not give the wrong specs. I found that I was sent the wrong item by the vendor.
Thanks, Phil, for your response. I ordered a 54", the tallest this company offers in 6' long bimini's. I just returned the mis-shipped bimini and will hope the correct 54" one is tall enough. If not, I will indeed splice it. I found that 3/4" tubing fits nice and snuggly into 7/8" tubing. That will make a good tight splice possible by adding the needed amount of 7/8 tubing and internally stabilizing it with a piece of 3/4 tubing.
Thanks again
