Hi from New Zealand,
I am finishing a minor revamp of my Montauk that has had relatively little use since new.
How do I know if I need to replace the 4 drains? I assume they are original.
If I do need replacements, is there an article on how to do this?
Are any special tools needed? (I am in New Zealand, so mail order from the USA is not easy)
Thanks in advance
P.S. In case anyone has advice, I am looking to
1 renew the cooler seat cushion, if anyone has a suggestion where to source
2 move the battery to inside the console (I need to know how best to support the floor under the battery)
For the O rings, I would order from US. They are light and small so shipping not too bad. Best source is Sue Lodel at Twin Cities Marine. She ships international on a daily basis. Just email her year, model and what you doing, parts you need. Tell her we sent you. www.beacontcm.com
There is a OEM manufacturer here but as you know shipping is steep. A owner in So. England just ordered his. The wait was not too long but the shipping and VAT was $$$.
I would use a general all purpose cleaner and a stiff brush to clean the vinyl. Stay away from any product that has an acid since it will dissolve the stitching.
When moving the battery to the console, trace the battery box outline on the floor and then cut it out and have the case sit inside and rest on the deck. It also gives you a bit more room.
I had the box sit on a square of Dri-Dek to prevent damage to the gelcoat.
