2015 Super Sport 170 Drain Plugs

Member Posts: 6 Comments: 0 Joined: 03/18/19	Hello, New owner of a 17' 2015 Super Sport 170. I'm hoping some experts can advise on the proper use of the drain plugs. The user manual states: The bow locker and cockpit drain plugs must be in place when moored, underway, or occupied. However, I live in a region with heavy rains. It seems to me the boat would become swamped with water if the plugs are left in place while moored. Can you kindly advise? Cheers, Bill

When unoccupied, remove the plugs, exit the boat and observe the water level in the boat. Pour 5 gallons of water in the bow area and observe. Pour a second 5 gallons. "The bow locker and cockpit drain plugs must be in place when moored" definitely sounds to me like they're telling me to plug it when unoccupied - but plugs out makes way more sense. I did wash it down yesterday while moored, plugs out, and the water drained as I hope the rain does.
