I recently just bought my first 17ft Montauk and was taking out my boat plug this weekend and the entire drain hole tube was corroded and came out with it. A couple things I am worried about:
1) the foam was wet on the inside of the transom when I stuck my finger down in there. I am concerned. Any suggestions? I am thinking about raising it up as high as I can to let the water drain completely out.
2) Is this the right brass drain tube I need to purchase? Any suggestions would be great. I also would really like to not use brass if possible to avoid corrosion.

If you search this site, there are several really good articles about changing the brass drain tubes. The best source for the brass tube and the O-rings is McMaster-Carr. I have a complete set of tools you can use for the price of postage both ways. It is not hard to do if you follow the recommendations.
