Transom puckered in on both sides of transom on 13'
I just bought a 1974 13' Sourpuss in incredible condition except that on the outside of the transom the hull is puckered in (concave). My 11' Whaler has the same thing going on. On either side of the transom wood it is very concave mostly on the port side about a foot circle.
Has anybody else had this on their boat?
Hi Tom. Congratulations on your purchase of the 1974 Sourpuss. Hull puckering appeared in Boston Whaler boats in the late 1970's through early 1980's. The Outrage hull was the most common hull to suffer puckering, and some of those hulls were returned to the factory and replaced under warranty. The puckering or waves is caused by foam shrinking and pulling the hull surface inward. It is a cosmetic condition. Several Whaler Central members have posted about the puckering condition with their 15' boats, namely Jamesgt727 and spearit with his 1979 Sport 15.
