But a bit far for those of us on the upper Potomac, for a day trip. I'd potentially be interested in a Whaler meet-up somewhere mid-Potomac, in late-September or early-October. I've been looking for an excuse to run down to the ship graveyard in Mallows Bay. The carbs on the old Yamaha could use a good hard run... 19 Outrage II (1992)

When I was stationed at Quantico, we would rent a plane from the flying club at lunchtime sometimes and go bomb those ships with 2-lb sacks of flour. Golly, those were fun times. There's also a ramp at Fitzie's itself, but I've never used it ... yet. Breton Bay is actually a decent sized bay with several interesting creeks. Also, St. Clements Island is pretty close if you wanted to make a day of it. MD Whaler Squadron run/tour to Solomons Island before the end of the year. It may just be the two of us, but if anyone else is interested in joining us, we'd love to have you.
