Hey guys,
Brand new to the forum. I just purchased my first whaler. A 1993 Outrage 19. Love it! Quick question. The boat has a bimini, but there is another piece of canvas that was in storage box. It's brand new and has never been used, as far as I can tell. There is a U-shape cut in it and it has draw strings. Can anybody tell me what this is for? Thanks!

Hi Chad, welcome to Whaler Central and welcome to the Outrage 19 “club.” These 19 Outrage II models are great boats!
I have a full set of canvas on my 1992 model, including full cockpit/camping enclosure. The only piece of canvas that has anything like a drawstring, is the cover for the center console. My console cover pulls down over the console and secures on either side by shock cord material that hooks over some plastic clips.
The other possibility is that you have found the “boot” or cover for the bimini,
although these usually secure by zipper not drawstrings.
Let us know what you learn and enjoy the new boat.

Thanks for the reply! The previous owner just got ahold of me and told me it was homemade and was used to extend the bimini. Next question, where can I get the splash dodger (bow) and how about a backrest for the factory installed leaning post? Thanks!!

Mystery solved!
The dodger is available from Mills Canvas on Long Island. You can also have one made up for you by a local canvas shop. If you have a Mills bimini already, I suggest sticking with them. They sell a complete canvas kit for this model, so you could keep building it out if that is something that interests you.
I have a very nice back rest from Birdsall Marine that drops into the two rod holders on the leaning post. I believe this is the model I have, or similar:
