I need some advice on properly connecting a towable tube for recreation. I purchased a harness from Amazon(below) and it looks like the hook/latches will be too small for the exterior transom eye. What are you all using? It will hook on, but the flap on the hook cannot spring back past the towing eye hardware as it is too thick. You follow? This will be for a 3-person tube setup. Can anyone share some pics of how they have their towable connected to Transom Eyes? Maybe I'm over thinking this. Thanks.

Stop by Hamilton Marine or comparable chandlery and pick up 2 D shackles.

You should measure the exisiting transom eyes so the D ring is deep enough to accept the hook from the harness.

The pin end of the shackle would go in the transom eye.

Phil : what type of pin should I get for this application? There are different types available. Also, do you think a Shackle Bow might work better? Thanks.

In my case I looked at the shackle that was wide enough to fit the width of the transom eye, deep enough to allow you to attach the clip.

It was a trial and error exercise in the parking lot of Hamilton Marine in Portland. LOL.

This one looks promising.

Remember to wire up the pin so you don't loose it.

Thanks Phil. I measured for size and in the end settled on a bow shackle at my local Rockland Hamilton marine. Thanks for tip on wiring pin.

I bought the same harness off Amazon and had the same issue.

I took a flat file and filed off about 1/4" off of the closure. It took about 20 mins, but I spent a lot of time making sure there were no sharp edges.

It now snaps around my transom eye hooks.
