I've tried doing a search through the inter webs and this site and I give up. Looking for some pro's and con's of getting a used one. I've heard of hull issues (getting on a plane) but those issues seem sparse at best. I love Boston Whaler and am looking to upgrade from my classic 1969 16' (still gonna hang onto it). Thanks for whatever opinions are shared.
The Conquest 295 is a large boat with an LOA of ~31' and a dry weight 6,600 and a beam of 10'4.
I have read than the planing issues related to the notched hull and the installation of heavy 4 stroke motors with models that have the optional GenSet and AC units.
The standard Mercury Optimax 225 weigh ~495 lbs. Some 4 stroke 225's weight 600lbs.+
The work-arounds to increasing planing performance include:
- NOT filling both tanks full
- Keep engine weight down
- Install Rev 4 props if equipped with Opti 225's.
