Anyone know where a guy could find either a set of two or individual raised "dauntless" decal as a replacement to the originals that came on my 1995 Dauntless 15? The one on the port side on my boat is toast. I'd settle for just the raised" Dauntless" lettering and can redo the number 15 with regular vinyl decal. Thanks for any help. Oh, and I contacted Specialty Marine last year and they couldn't locate one.
First stop is the Parts Department of your local Whaler dealer. If unhelpful, then contact Sue Lodel, Parts Manager @ Twin Cities Marine. She is the parts guru.
Well, the nearest dealer from me is 150 miles away. Called the parts dept. and was told the item is no longer available. He offered no other leads. Sue with Twin Cities Marine can't put her hands on one either. Seems my only shot will be to either obtain one of the newer "Dauntless" decals and see if it will work or somehow locate an older one that is laying out of circulation somewhere. May just blow the whole search off. Didn't realize something so simple was going to turn into such a dilemma. I guess I could just name my own boat and insert whatever between the lines.
Went ahead and ordered a pair of 2014 Dauntless 17 badges from a regional dealer. Parts guy said the "17" portion of the badge would separate easy enough to look decent. I'll either attempt to reuse the "15" numbering using my original ones or end up ordering a set of "15" numbers from a later model Montauk or whichever ones will work the best. Not sure if the 2014 badges I ordered will be constructed of the same soft raised material or be more rigid raised lettering. The parts guy did say though that the set he ordered appeared to be raised and not flat and he ordered a set in gray as are the originals. Either way, I'll see how they turn out when I get them via drop shipped. At $14 a set and around $8 shipped though, I won't stress too much over it. Thanks anyway for the info you provided Phil T.
