A Montauk should really have the 94qt size cooler, which they all had up until Brunswick changed it very late in the model run, probably to save a few bucks. It is a much better seat for two people, and provides more dry stroage. I highly recommend that is what you buy. See my website link, Montauk album, for photos of mine.

You can get an original Whaler cooler cushion here, now the only real source left. Their quality is the best you can buy.

The 86qt Igloo Marine cooler was the standard size cooler.

Some years later Igloo redesigned the lid and made it slightly taller. Now a 94Qt. It has the same width and length as the 86 qt.

If you have the rod holder cushions, install the cooler with the hinges facing forward to accommodate the new height, The lid will open without interference.

I'm not sure if your year model is like my 1987, but I bought a 94 qt then realized I had to pick it up over the rails to get it in or out. Ended up getting the 72 qt because it'll slide under the bow rails. I'd suggest seeing if that's something that matters to you like it did to me, since I'm often loading & unloading the boat myself.

I put the 94 in my 1988 Montauk. Anderson is excellent quality for cushions.
Since i keep life jackets, flares, first aid kit, ponchos and fire extinguisher in it, it never leaves the boat
I made the cleats from drawings on this web site
