First question; after putting my engine in gear there is a very large dead space before the throttle increases the rpm's, and then it is very sensitive with a very very little travel needed to go to WOT. Can I fix this?

Second question; in heavy chop the pounding of the boat moves the throttle. Can and how do you tighten the lever?

Third question; can you add a neutral lock lever to the controls? I have accidentally slipped past neutral more than once and I am sure this is very hard on the gears in the foot. Good thing I bought the foot failure insurance along with my regular boat insurance.

2013 Montauk 150 with Mercury 60hp.

There is probably a tension adjustment for the throttle. It is often located in the handle where it attached to the binnacle usually under a small plastic cover which may have a logo on it. The engine owners manual for my Mercury has instructions for making the adjustment.

Don't be in a hurry when you are shifting to neutral. Ease the handle out of gear. When shifting from neutral it is better to shift quickly.

Many Mercury owners complained about the Mercury binnacle having a poor detent for neutral. It is not fixable.

The throttle friction adjustment screw is nylon and under the cover near the throttle lever.
