Member Posts: 9 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/05/16	I recently purchased a 1988 Whaler Montauk 17. The boat is equipped with a 1988 Johnson SPL 88 HP motor. The tachometer doesn't seem to be working. Where should i begin trouble shooting to get this working again?

Do you have a Voltmeter? This is where I would start. Either a Voltmeter or Fish Finder that shows the charging system is working or not. Here is a partial list of OMC style gauges. http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=43 If your charging system is not working, then you most likely need a Voltage Rectifier for your model outboard.
