I'm looking for anchor recommendations for 2017 Montauk 190 in Puget Sound.
In particular, I'm looking for an anchor that will fit in the bow cabinet including chain, rope, etc...
thank you!
I have only seen photos of what looks like a decent sized anchor locker on the Montauk 190. For a lightweight, versatile anchor it's hard to beat the aluminum Fortress anchors, which are a variation on the old Danforth style anchor. I would buy the largest one that would fit the locker along with the anchor rode - maybe the FX-7?
That said, local holding conditions vary, and you might be wise to confer with other boaters in your area to see what style anchor they are using. It could be that danforth-style anchors don't do well in Puget Sound, and maybe a Bruce-style or plow-type anchor is a better choice. However, these tend not to fit as neatly in lockers and are generally speaking better suited to mounting on a bow roller.
