Hello Everyone,
Does anybody have an idea of what the Lee's Outrigger Mount and outrigger poles would be worth? I have seen some skewed numbers. Thanks!
John

Prices, like you stated, across the board. Are you looking to sell or purchase? Many different styles. You having a Montauk limits which type of mount/style you are going to use.

I have the one that mounts to the shepherd's pole on the standard console. I'm not really looking to sell it, just trying to get an idea of what it might be worth.

Then.....a clamp on mount? Again......price across the board depending on quality of manufacture, how adjustable, etc...... I personally would hold onto it. 10%, 25% maybe 50% (if very very clean) to new. I would not break up a clean set up, sturdy install, and rigging ready to go. If ever you sell the boat a nice add on. I am piecing together outriggers on my 22' Revenge and got a matching pair of beautiful bronze heavy duty vintage full adjusting mounts for $125. I am waiting to get the boat wet before I determine pole length, location, etc..... I see similar new adjustable mounts from Taco for $700 to $1200. Used from $300 up. Those are modern versions not vintage. Are yours fully adjustable up/down and swing fore to aft or a rod holder style with a bend in the pole?

The mount is of the vintage style highlighted on this thread http://www.whalercentral.com/photogallery.php?photo_id=355
The polls are aluminum and break down into 4 or 5 sections that twist together. The portion of the poles that fit into the mount are angled.

The mount for the Montauk is a large aluminum casting which was only used on Whalers with the shepherd's crook. They were a BW option, not an aftermarket addition. They are difficult to find, and don't come up for sale often. They are nice to have if you want to keep your BW as original. There are chromed mounts that fit into the aluminum casting, and a chromed elbow that fits between the chrome mount and the actual pole. I have seen the casting, with the chrome mounts, selling from $500 to $1,000. The entire setup, with the poles, should be a couple hundred more than that. Those I saw for sale had some dings and scratches. A really clean set should go for more. On my Montauk, the poles came in a canvas bag, that matched the cover canvass. I think that was original equipment, and if so, it would be very desirable to someone who wants a very original setup. I have a really clean set, and If I wanted to sell it as a set, I wouldn't take less than $1,200.

Thanks fellows for the photo reference and the history. I thought that the outriggers being discussed were aftermarket from the get go. A complete turn key factory original set another animal altogether. I would lean towards Paulsv assessment. I would love to see a photo of the set up fully rigged. I looked for a few of years for a classic sturdy affordable mount that would work with my application and have no idea of the manufacturer.

I have sold two complete sets of the Whaler/Shepards Crook outrigger system, complete with the poles. Both were in perfects condition, freshwater use only, no corrosion at all. Both quickly sold on this site for $600 plus shipping.
