I am refurbishing a newly acquired Whaler, and I got to the console last night. Does anybody have any advice or recommendation on how to rehab a console with rotten wood? Are there any vendors available for a new console?
You will need to remove rotten wood and get to clean fiberglass. More wood will need to be glassed in to give the console walls some rigidness, otherwise sides of console will note be flat. I would use C-clamps to hold new wood to console inside while resin sets. I also recommend one layer of fiberglass cloth then wood then another layer of cloth.
