I'm in the process of refurbishing a 1982 BW Outrage 18. This winter's project is replacement of the cable steering system with a new seastar hydraulic system. One thing I have been worrying about was how hard it was going to be to get the wheel off the old helm given it has probably been on there 34 years. I had read here and elsewhere of people struggling with this Some using hammers to rap the shaft while pulling on the wheel and some resorting to hack sawing through the shaft. Today I bought a $17.00 wheel puller at Tractor Supply and with that and a little PB Blast, less than one hour later it was totally out. There's nothing like having the right tool for the job.
