I have a 1987 18' Outrage. I need to start replacing the center console plastic rod holder(s). I checked the OEM Part Index, but OEM rod holders are no longer available. Please let me know if these can be purchased or, if not available for purchase, how to make them myself. Thanks in advance.
They are available from Specialty Marine for about $175 right now, or if you are handy, there are plans in the reference section to make your own. That's the route I'm going with mine.
Has anyone built the rod holders based on the plans in the reference section? I am looking at them now, and there are a couple critical dimensions missing. Namely, how deep are the 1" radius cutouts? I want to ensure the cushions will fit properly when done.
I am only looking to replace the PVC rod holders, not the wood. Specialty Marine will sell the PVC rod holders on an individual basis. I have searched the internet as well, but have not otherwise found a replacement. The rod holders from Specialty Marine do not have the metal pin at the bottom that stops and holds up the rod. What exactly is used and where can I find one?
