Where can I find something to replace or cover the rod holders built into the seat back?
Thanks.

Some replace the RPS rod holders with Lee's Medium 0° (vertical) Flush Mount Rod Holder
http://www.leetackle.com/flushmount.htmlmount.html
There are other brands that will work also.
You could also replace the white rubber top lip with a black one.

I actually found white vinyl caps to cover these. They are made by whitecap industries. pn s-1957L. Bought them from Marineengineparts.com for a couple bucks each.

Been there done that.
Did not fit very well and did not like them.

ok, thanks. I am going to wait for the them to come in and try them out since they are already in route. I will go from there. How difficult is it to replace them with the Lee's rod holders?

Unlike Joe, I have had good experience with the Whitecap rod holder caps. Although they are designed for a straight top holder, they will still go on over the flared lip of the Whaler holders. They are a little difficult to get on, and at first appearance seem to not fit, but they will and once done look good, and fit firmly. I much prefer the look of white vs the Perko black.
They have a double lip design, and once on, the outer lip has to be trimmed down to match the height the rod holder protrudes above the top of the seat. Put a piece of masking tape around as a guide for a straight and true cut with a razor knife. Unfortunately I do not yet have any photos of these caps installed, but can do so soon.
And another option, of course, is to cut the flare off the top of the Whaler holder, and block up the bottom to obtain the desired height above seat back. But I really don't think this is necessary.

Great to hear, thanks for posting. I should be receiving them in the mail today or tomorrow. I am replacing a bunch of other parts. Cant wait to try them out.

whalerlibby,
Yes, those worked perfectly for me.
I assume you did not like the Whitecap rod lips?
I ended up giving mine away after installing the Lee's vertical rod holders.
Anyone can view photos on my personal page.
