I am looking to close on a 2000 26' Outrage later this week.

Looking for advice on installing a windlass.

Is it easy to route the heave power cables all the way to the bow from the batteries in the stern??

Anyone with any advice wold be appreciated.

(corrected name to Outrage 26' for clarification)

There are some drawings available on www.whalerparts.com for the 2000 Outrage 26.

In reviewing the hull diagram, http://whalerparts.com/Diagrams/2000/...60or01.pdf you can see there is access from the rear to the console but not into the bow.

It is not clear from the drawings how the wiring runs to the bow. I would guess inside the foamed cavity between the hull and deck.

A handful of owners have run power to the bow for trolling motors and/or electrical devices. One method that limits cutting into the boat is installing a receptacle in the console wall and running a heavy duty power cord on the deck to the windlass. It can be stowed when not needed.

One of the things you may want to research is the anchor line storage. My Lewmar Windlass is horizontal to the deck and it required free fall (either 12" or 18") for the anchor line. I have a 1979 Revenge so my anchor locker in the cuddy had the clearance. I do not know the specs for vertical units.
